For those looking for a view of early West Jersey in the larger context of the Delaware Valley, Sydney Fisher's The Quaker Colonies is a good place to start. Fisher provides the reader with broad easaily digested history of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Perhaps some of the scholarship is dated, the book was published in 1919, but generally speaking this is a fine overview.
